Little girl: Grand Pa, when I grow up, do you think I can be like you?
Grandpa: (laughs) we are billions on this earth my child, why be like me?
Little girl: because you’re old and ugly and beautiful Pa
Grandpa: (laughs) that’s a lot of adjective my child, a lot. Thank you.
Little girl: I want to cry when it rains, I want to learn how not to be afraid; I want to learn how to see the stars with eyes closed. Grand Pa please teach me before you go, please Grand Pa!
Grandpa: how about I teach you just one thing….. One thing above all you wish for.
Little girl: teach me pa! Teach me!!
Grandpa: Ok! It’s how to be a bird. A fearful, beautiful and ugly Queen bird.
Little girl: I don’t want to be a bird when I grow up Pa, teach me something else
Grandpa: (laughs) you don’t say….. How about I teach you how to be a muse, a glow, a dimple that inspires love and light, a glow that swallows the shadows that hunt the blind and the growing fetus, a glow that gives love and the love in-turn bears generation of stars and suns.
Little girl: that’s a lot of adjective Grand pa
Grandpa: (perplexed) ok then, I’ll teach you how to be a child.
Little girl: teach me that grandpa…. Teach me how to be a child like you. I want to be a child when I grow up.
Grandpa: (laughs)
“I want to cry when it rains, I want to learn how to be afraid” This was really really beautiful. Also the conversation was funny haha, I guess that’s exactly how children are, right?
